The Situation

This report outlines the successful recruitment of a Chief Disruption Officer (CDO) for a fintech firm operating in the Payments and Alternative Banking sectors. The firm, in its growth phase, aimed to scale its operations and drive sales growth prior to a sale, through the strategic hiring of an executive commercial professional. 

The CDO would be responsible for creating and implementing innovative strategies to help disrupt the market and create a presence.

Challenges

Helping to make a successful hire for this position had the following key considerations:

1. Finding a candidate with a proven track record of driving disruptive strategies within established corporate companies, who could then translate those skills to a smaller start-up environment with less resource to implement.

2. Attracting those candidates from already innovative corporate backgrounds to leave that security of larger organisation behind, for the dynamic and sometimes uncertain environment of a growing fintech.

Method

c) Assessing cultural fit and alignment due to the dramatic change that would come in workplace environment. 

The selected candidate brought transformative vision and experience, driving innovation and growth within the fintech firm's Payments and Alternative Banking sectors.
